What should you do if you think your deed was stolen?
Contact the county Clerk of Superior Court immediately to report the suspected fraudulent filing and ask how to flag or dispute it in the record. A real estate attorney should get involved quickly, since clearing a fraudulent deed from the record often requires a court action to quiet title and formally restore ownership. Reporting it to local law enforcement and, if a lender is involved, to that lender directly, are additional steps worth taking right away.
