Should first-time buyers get an owner's title policy?

An owner's title policy protects a first-time buyer's own equity against a title claim, such as an undisclosed lien or a forged prior deed, that surfaces after closing, coverage a lender's own title policy does not provide since it only protects the lender's interest. The one-time cost at closing buys protection for as long as a buyer owns the property. Joel Boss explains this distinction to every first-time buyer before they decide whether to add it.
