Can I refuse to close after a bad walkthrough?
Refusing to close is not automatic just because a walkthrough turns up a problem, since the right to delay or cancel depends on what the purchase contract actually says about the home's required condition at closing. A genuinely material issue, like a repair the seller promised but never completed, can justify pushing closing back or negotiating a credit. Involve your agent and the closing attorney immediately so any delay is handled through the contract rather than informally.
